'Petrushka & L’Enfant et les Sortilèges'

In 2017 we collaborated with the Komische Opera Berlin, to create a large-scale double bill of Ravel’s surreal and fantastical opera of an ill-mannered and destructive child and Stravinsky’s ballet burlesque telling the tale of three puppets brought to life by their puppet-master and reimagined with circus artists. Co-conceived by 1927’s Co-Artistic Directors Paul Barritt and Suzanne Andrade and Associate Artistic Director Esme Appleton, Petrushka & L'enfant et les Sortileges was co-directed by Suzanne Andrade and Esme Appleton, with full-scale animation, created by Paul Barritt.  The production premiered at the Komische Opera Berlin in January 2017 where it continues to play in repertoire, alongside a second production running in repertoire at Deutsche oper am Rhein  in Dusseldorf, Germany.

Petrushka & L'infant et les Sortileges had its world premiere at Komische Opera Berlin on 28 January 2017.
