Dear 1927 Friends,
“Wild! They are wild?! They climb the walls! They smash the chairs! They throw the tables in the air! They howl!”
In these socially isolated times we want to invite you to collaborate with us on our wild new project: ‘Simon Says!’
A joyous collaboration between 1927, the in-house drama workshop of Colina 1 prison in Santiago ‘Fénix e Ilusiones’... And YOU!!
‘Simon Says!’
In January we were invited to perform our new show ROOTS at Corpartes Theatre & Cultural Centre in Santiago, Chile. Whilst we were there we were honoured to also run a storytelling workshop in Colina 1 Prison.
‘Fénix e Ilusiones’ are the drama ensemble in the prison, directed by Colectivo Sustento, a group of community theatre workers led by Penny Glass who has been guiding the shifting prisoner cast for a whopping 18 years.
They create political playful emotional pieces of drama.
The 1927 workshop with the group was based on the theme;
‘Advice we wished we had been given when we were younger’ and we devised and performed some incredible folk tales for children.
We would now like to invite you to illustrate one of the tales ‘Simon Says!’
Which will then be animated by our very own Paul Barritt.
Your mission!
