Talent Development

We’ve learnt everything we know through creative experimentation, determination, trial, error, learning and discovery; through support from our peers; and most importantly by believing in and nurturing the talent of our creative team and collaborators.

We want 1927 to be a catalyst for other creatives - nurturing talent, opening doors and empowering potential. We do this by providing opportunities and support for new and emerging creative talent as we think it is essential for the most innovative and diverse artistic voices to thrive.

We put this commitment into action through Talent Development Activities that seek to identify, nurture, develop and support brilliant emerging and early career independent artists and practitioners to unlock their potential through paid work opportunities, developing practical experience, support professional development, and growing knowledge and networks.

As with everything in 1927, we do this in collaboration with our creative peers.

Creative Associates

By collaborating with a series of Creative Associates, 1927 seeks to support the development of new and emerging creative talent by working with up and coming artists, practitioners and arts professionals at the very heart of 1927’s creative programme.  We do this by offering professional development and work opportunities.

We seek to provide opportunities for Associates to collaborate with 1927, working at the very heart of our creative programme, collaborating with us on the creation and delivery of our artistic programme. Recent Associates have included collaborating with an Assistant Director on a recent revival of The Animals and Children took to the Streets; a Composers Assistant on Roots and Creative Digital Associate.

1927 Bursaries for Artists

As a homage to our early days and the people who helped us out, each year we offer small cash Bursaries to help England based Artists develop a piece of original, sublime, heart wrenching, political, or just plain weird performance! Alongside the cash bursary, 1927 offers Mentoring to Bursary Recipients. Bursaries are advertised on an annual basis and are open to Emerging and Peer Artists based in England, who have made work previously with a particular emphasise on Artists who are playing with form or have a brilliant story to tell.

Applications for 1927 Bursaries has now closed. Please sign up to our mailing list or follow us on social media to find out about future opportunities.
